It is the energy that awakens you in profound meditation. A true guru transmits the light in the form of energy (shaktipat). You will feel this energy in their presence when you find a Guru that you are talking to, and you will sense that it meditates in a way that you can not meditate alone. It will feel strong and happy and as you get in touch with this joy, profound meditation and awakening will take place. Guru is not a fitness. Guru is power that jnana or wisdom transfers to shishya or disciple. The guru pouring this warm water gradually into the cold stone if you take the shishya to be an icecold stone and jnana to blow up warm water, so that the steel does not crack with the heat. Guru assumes the shishya fully, every second he controls. Guru takes the shishya literally on the path of evolution. It's not someone who speaks sweetly or promises arbitrarily to get your support... A guru doesn't need you; you need it. Everybody at this time is looking for instructions from educators, physicians, attorneys etc. on easy elements. If this is so, the significance of the guru, who lifts us from the cycle of birth and death, is really beyond our own imagination. You should give up to the Guru so that until his dissolution the Guru can control his mind. Submit totally to the Guru and leave the remainder to Him. The Guru is conscious of the advancement of the disciple. Through his eyes, words or touches, the guru constantly bestows his grace on the devotee. The Guru's attempts give this grace to the disciple.
